Position profile: The Department of Pediatrics of the College of Medicine and Saskatoon Health Region is seeking applications for a Medical Geneticist. The successful candidate will provide specialist consultative services for children of Saskatchewan. In addition, the successful candidates will participate in developing and guiding strategies for improving the health and health care of Saskatchewan children.

We are the largest health region in Saskatchewan serving more than 350,000 residents in over 100 cities, towns, and rural municipalities. Saskatoon Health region is the largest single employer in the province with over 14,000 staff and 1000 physicians across the Region providing a complete range of health services to residents of central and northern Saskatchewan. The city's three acute care hospitals - St. Paul's, City and Royal University -comprise three of the provinces' tertiary teaching centres.
The University - The beautiful University of Saskatchewan campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. The UofS is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7.000 faculty and staff, a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex (http://library.usask.ca/hsi/new-building.php) adn two of the largest science projects in the country - The Canadian Light Source synchrotron (www.lightsource.ca) and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre (www.vido.org). A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $174.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
Candidates must hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is in Canadian dollars. The cost of benefits is built into the contract value and the physician is responsible to fund the cost of any benefits he/she wishes to purchase.
