The Division of Pediatric Critical Care at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas is seeking a full-time, BE/BC Pediatric Critical Care Physician to join its busy inpatient practice. This is a specialized group of pediatricians dedicated to the care of hospitalized pediatric patients.
Successful candidates will join a practice that includes eight Intensivists and six PA/APNPs. This full-time position offers a diverse patient population and candidates will have the ability to become a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. As such, they will be an active participant in educational opportunities for medical students and residents working for Dell Medical School.
The ideal candidate should possess clinical expertise in the management of perioperative/peri-intervention cardiac surgery/cardiology patients, as well as leadership experience. They should also possess strong skills and experience in the management of patients with congenital heart disease and ECMO.
The Pediatric Critical Care team covers all patients in the 24-bed multidisciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dell Children’s Medical Center, and select patients in the 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). The unit is supported by a strong group of medical and surgical sub-specialists and a critical care transport team. Emphasis is placed on a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to care for a diverse and challenging patient population.
Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, a member of the Seton Healthcare Family, is a 248-bed children’s hospital serving 46-counties; and is the only freestanding pediatric facility in the region with a level 1 pediatric trauma center, and a PICU that offers a wide variety of services including ECMO, CRRT, and Apheresis.

Seton operates more than 100 clinical locations, including four teaching hospitals that will be training sites for Dell Medical School at The University of Texas starting in 2016.
One of those training sites is Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, a world-class pediatric medical center with its own Level I trauma center. Another is University Medical Center Brackenridge, which is Ce...ntral Texas’ only Level I trauma center for adults. UMC Brackenridge will be replaced by the new Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in early 2017. The other two teaching hospitals are Seton Medical Center Austin, the region’s largest medical facility, and Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, the area’s only nonprofit mental health facility.
