Are you a self-motivated board certified/board eligible pediatrician who is passionate about providing care to school aged children enrolled in public and non-public schools in NYC?
School Health Physician Responsibilities:
Improve the health of school children through case management of chronic health problems, preventive health screening, urgent care, medication administration, preventive counseling, health education, referral for care and assurance of ongoing effective treatment
Support the development and implementation of medical initiatives that promote positive health behaviors and outcomes
Reduce high risk behaviors
Provide medical care and public health services to students through Office of School Health Programs and Initiatives
Function as a liaison for students with community health providers to resolve school related issues
Serve as a consultant to the school nurse and administration on school health- related concerns
Provide clinical assistance in the event of an environmental or communicable disease occurrence
Physicians who have completed residency training in the following are also encouraged to apply: Preventive Medicine, Social Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, Community Medicine, Family Practice, or Med-Peds. Training in community health or public health a plus. 10- or 12-month assignments are available.
