This is a full-time position at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care Systems as the Director of the Emergency Department. The Director of Emergency Department is responsible for the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Emergency Department, and reports directly to the Chief, Medical Service. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining professional, technical, and administrative knowledge, competencies and skills to deliver effective, timely and high quality medical care to patients at the Emergency Department at VASNHCS as well as deliver emergency care throughout the hospital, when required in case of medical emergencies. The Director of the Emergency Department will supervise the other physician and mid-level providers in Emergency Department, as well as, work as a provider of Emergency Services at VASNHCS. The Incumbent is expected to actively participate in quality improvement activities and ensure compliance with rules and regulations of the agency, facility and department. The incumbent will also ensure that a satisfactory process is maintained for supervision and training of internal medicine residents and medical students from University of Nevada School of Medicine, rotating through the Emergency Department at VASNHCS.
