Pershing VAMC and assigned to the Cape Girardeau HCC will function as independent licensed practitioners. The candidate will (1) hold a full and unrestricted license in any state; (2) have completed a three-year residency in good standing, and (3) have passed or be eligible to take the certifying examination in a core specialty. Preference will also be given to those with experience or additional training. The Dermatologist is responsible for assuring the most effective delivery of dermatological care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. The Dermatologist will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Dermatology Clinic as well as perform minor procedures as appropriate. In this role, the incumbent will also provide feedback and patient education to the patients and their families and will demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. Privileges include being able to admit, work up, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients presenting with all Dermatological conditions requiring specialized procedures and interventions within the scope of standard fellowship training in Dermatology Medicine. The physician must be skilled in the evaluation and treatment of a variety skin disorders as licensed. The physician must perform a physical examination pertinent to a variety of skin disorders, use appropriate techniques to diagnose and treat skin ailments, monitor effectiveness of skin treatments and make necessary improvements or changes based on effectiveness of outcomes, provide screening tests 1) develop a provisional diagnosis and differential diagnosis; 2) decide on utilization of tests for further evaluation of the illness; 3) communicate a plan with the patient and/or care giver and the referring physician; 4) review and interpret any additional tests ordered; 5) render a final therapeutic plan.
