Baylor Scott & White Health Department of Pathology is seeking a licensed physician with a specialty in Pathology and subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Cytopathology for a PRN position. Conducts, makes diagnoses, and determines the cause of disease, based upon the histopathologic and (as necessary) molecular analysis of bodily fluids and tissues. Though regular work hours between 7 AM and 5 PM is expected, patient care issues may involve a longer workday. Call coverage for pathology will be divided between 2 pathologists involving coverage every other week.
Board Certification by the American Board of Pathology with sub-specialty board certification or certification eligibility in Cytopathology..
Clinical Pathology experience is helpful.
Possesses a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas at start date.
Review medical histories, conduct interviews, examinations, and tests on patients to make diagnoses and determinations on appropriate treatments.
Sign-off on general surgical pathology, frozen sections, cytology with adequacy checks, peripheral blood smear interpretation, molecular sequencing interpretation and clinical hospital laboratory
Perform laboratory analysis of bodily fluids and tissues through chemistry, clinical microbiology, hematology, and molecular pathology, and utilizing tools including but not limited to light microscopes, polarizing microscopes, microtomes, photographic equipment, electrophoresis equipment, hematology analyzers, sequencers, tissue processors, and frozen section equipment
Make diagnoses and determine cause of disease based upon the laboratory analysis.
Confer with referring physicians on further examinations or treatment options.
Supervise the clinical activities of a care team that may consist of other providers, and allied health professionals.
Take call and participate in hospital activities.
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all patient encounters.
Participate in continuous improvement activities including continuing education.
Ensuresthattestingsystemsdeveloped and used for each of thetests performed inthelaboratory providesquality laboratoryservices for allaspects of test performance, whichincludesthe pre-analytic, analytic, andpost-analytic phases of testing.
