The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is seeking an academic pathologist to serve as the Director of Breast Pathology and lead our team of academic breast subspecialists. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of our breast pathology diagnostic services, will support and oversee the educational and research missions, and will mentor the faculty of the team to success in these missions.
UH Cleveland Medical Center receives over 5000 breast cases annually, including core biopsies and complex specimens. Faculty members are active in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and engage in clinical and translational research activities. The 900+ bed UH Cleveland Medical Center includes University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals MacDonald Women’s Hospital, all situated adjacent to Case Western Reserve University. UH Cleveland Medical Center is ranked as one of America’s 100 best hospitals. The Department of Pathology is in the top 13 nationally in NIH funding and has an annual total of ~100,000 surgical specimens. The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center is in the top tier of comprehensive cancer centers.
Applicants should be board-certified in AP or AP/CP with fellowship training or equivalent experience in breast pathology and substantial experience in a breast pathology subspecialty service in an academic setting. Candidates must qualify for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio. Involvement in clinical, translational or basic research is encouraged. For physician-scientist candidates with potential for competitive externally funded laboratory research programs, appropriate laboratory space and start-up package commitments will be provided.
